MMD, the brand license partner for Philips Monitors, has announced an innovative 21.5" Philips USB Docking Monitor in a fresh new design to complement the existing 23" model, bringing greater connectivity choices, simplicity and extra screen space to more office desktops.
With its advanced USB plug-and-play and Ethernet connection, the 221S6QUMB USB Docking Monitor enables notebook users to keep their peripherals connected, access the Internet or office intranet, and enjoy additional display space – with clarity and vivid colours. All by plugging in a single USB cable.
Thomas Schade, Vice President EMEA at MMD, says: “With more and more mobile professionals preferring ultra-thin notebooks that are short on ports and interfaces, there is a real need for a display that can deliver instant access to desktop peripherals – and instant productivity – when users are in the office. The new 21.5" Philips USB Docking Monitor connects the notebook to any of the devices hooked up to the display. It also expands the screen space available, enabling people to use both their notebook screen and the large AH-IPS display without having to adjust the resolution.”
Port replication with a difference
Unlike conventional portal replicators or docking stations, which introduce extra hardware and cables to the desktop, the Philips USB Docking Monitor already has extensive connectivity options built in, which users can access simply by connecting their notebook via a standard USB cable. It’s simplicity that makes sense. A full-sized keyboard and mouse, external hard drive, a camera - users simply attach devices of their choice to the USB Docking Monitor for instant productivity benefits. With its integrated Ethernet, the display also provides plug-in access to the Internet or company intranet, eliminating the dedicated cable that would otherwise be needed.
Expanded desktop – in AH-IPS quality
By docking the notebook to the display, users also gain extra screen real estate to work with. That means more space to spread out when running multiple applications simultaneously. The resolution is set automatically – there is no need to make adjustments before starting work. And with advanced AH-IPS technology, the USB Docking Monitor provides more than just extra space. It also delivers an enhanced, wide-angle viewing experience with brilliant, sharp colour reproduction, making it ideal for applications demanding colour accuracy and consistent brightness.
Taking care of desk-worker well-being
The new USB Docking Monitor is spec’ed to reduce the strain on desk workers who spend hours at their display every day. For example, it features Philips Flicker-Free technology to regulate brightness and reduce flicker for more comfortable viewing. The low bezel-to-table height makes the display perfect for users who wear bifocals, trifocals or progressive lens glasses. And with the SmartErgoBase, users can tilt, swivel and rotate the display to exactly the position they prefer, which helps ease the physical strains of a long workday.
The new Philips 221S6QUMB USB Docking LCD Monitor is available now. The RRP is £149.
